Wine divas/educators Barbara Nowak and Beverly Wichman (known as The Saucy Sisters), authors of two nationally distributed books about wine, will host a tasting event in Franklin on Thursday, September 25th. Proceeds from “Sip A Merlot (or Martini) For Marcy” will benefit Marcy.

Before Marcy's diagnosis, the Saucy Sisters shared more than a few glasses of wine with her. And more than a few laughs as well. “We figured we could help Marcy and Rob by doing two of the things we do best: drink wine and laugh,” said Nowak. “And get other like-minded folks to join us,” added Wichman.

“Last year this event focused on women of the vine (based on our first wine book The Saucy Sisters' Guide to Wine: What Every Girl Should Know Before She Uncorks). But this time around we thought we’d make the party more ‘gender neutral’ (just like our second tome The Everything Wine Book) and get the men involved.

It’s all in an effort to contribute to Marcy’s caretaking and raise awareness of ALS.

The Sisters" will be serving wines from Arrington Vineyards, the new winery in Williamson County owned, in part, by Kix Brooks and the family of Marcy’s close friend Carol Mindermann. Also on the schedule of events will be a martini bar (for those he-men who don’t “do wine”), an appetizer buffet, chef demonstration (with samples)…and a Silent Auction.

The sisters will “uncork” their party from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Nowak's Franklin home. They promise some wine education with a “glass of humor” to combat the snobbery and elitism usually associated with wine.Among other subjects, they will tell how to judge a man by the wine he drinks and how to match wines with amorous escapades.

The cost of the wine tasting event is $35/person in advance and $40 at the door.
