Marcy's
Dinner Page
Quick
Links:
We've
mentioned many times that our neighbors' bringing dinner has been
one of our biggest blessings. We continue to be blessed as more
people ask to join our dinner caregivers and bring ideas to make
the dinners even better. This page summarizes and provides links
to the dinner related items on this site.
Anyone
is welcome to view
our dinner calendar anytime. If you would like to bring dinner
to our home for us, and you haven't done it before, just call me
(Rob) at (615) 794-6494.
Or
you can do it online - just email
me to get a password. We have dinner passwords so strangers
don't destroy the calendar. I'll send you a password and ask you
to change it immediately - you can create one that you will be able
to remember. I won't know your password, but if you forget it, I
can assign you a new one.
Once
you have a password, you'll be able to login and pick any night
that no one else has taken - weeknights, weekends, whenever - you
want to bring dinner or call to have
have food delivered. After picking the night, we ask you to
key in what you would like to bring. If you don't know what you
want to bring when you reserve your night, it's OK to say "Don't
Know" - you can come back and fill that in anytime. Having
the meals on the calendar helps answer our most frequently asked
question from dinner caregivers: "What have you had lately?"
We
also ask you to tell us about what time you can come. Most of our
friends deliver between 5:30 and 6:30 pm but we are flexible and
don't want to interfere with your family time. Marcy and I are rarely
away from home, but if we are going to be away at dinner time, we
will give you as much notice as possible.
The
day before your chosen day, I will email you a note to let you know
how many people are going to be home - usually it's just Matt, Darcy,
and me. Marcy is home but we have different food we give her through
the feeding tube. Also in this email I ask about what time you think
you'll be able to come.
We
are not picky eaters, but we try to avoid the chemicals in commercially
prepared foods, so the fresher the better. If you have trouble deciding
what to bring, check out the recipes
from caregivers or Marcy's
favorites from the Food Network on our site to see if they give
you any ideas.
If
you don't live close by, you can still be a dinner caregiver by
calling in to one of the companies that deliver in our area. See
the delivered dinner page for more
about this.
If
we've asked you to share a recipe, click
here for instructions on how to post a recipe to Marcy's site.
If we haven't asked you, but want to post your favorite recipe,
please follow the same instructions, and please email
us telling us you have posted.
