10/3/06 A Treatment That Helps

Subject: A Treatment That Helps

Sorry it has been so long (about 5 months) since we sent an email update on Marcy. We have been keeping up with our daily updates - if you have been reading those, you already know much of the content of this email. (If you don't have a password or lost yours, just email me.)

We have been thinking we would have some good news to report on hemodialysis treatments for Marcy - the treatment that would filter mycotoxins from her blood. We still are trying to find a doctor who will do it - the treatment is not approved for her diagnosis.

The really great news is that Marcy is feeling much better, thanks to your prayers and possibly a new detox treatment we started a couple of weeks ago.

Our friend, Kara, suggested we see a naturopath that has helped many of her friends. A couple of weeks ago we drove the 45 minutes to Old Hickory and met Andy. We have tried many homeopathic remedies in the last 6 or 7 years, and he suggested many that we have already tried.

But he suggested one we hadn't tried, an ionic foot bath from A Major Difference. An email friend (Nancy, husband Jon has ALS) had emailed about a month earlier saying an ionic foot bath had helped Jon, but it didn't sound like something great enough to seek a practitioner in our area.

Marcy tried it and loves it. It made her feel stronger the first time she used it and this past Sunday she showed me she can flex what she called her "Popeye muscle" - her left bicep - I don't think she has been able to move that in years. Later Sunday she told me I should think about what job I want to do when she is all better, said she hasn't felt this good in a long time, and asked me if I wanted to thumb wrestle.

The idea of it is this: Marcy soaks her feet in a warm water bath with a slight electrical charge (dc current so it doesn't shock) that ionizes the water. The ionic charges draw toxins out of her body through her feet. After 30 minutes the water in the bath goes from crystal clear to having all sorts of gunk in it.

There are several web sites that "poo-poo" the procedure and call it quackery. They say that gunk gets in the water from the electrodes, not the patient. But I tried it and Darcy tried it. Darcy and I had the same red gunk with white flakes, Marcy has that red gunk plus black chunks, green foam, and little worm-like curly things that Andy says are parasites. Marcy has more stuff coming out and, most importantly, she feels better and stronger. I felt some congestion disappear when I did it, Darcy just said it made her leg itch and didn't like having her feet in dirty water.

The foot bath is helping Marcy so much that we decided to buy a machine to use at home. Not only does that pay for itself in 50 uses (100 days,) it seemed very impractical to drive back and forth to Andy's each time we wanted to use it - we would not be able to go every other day so we wouldn't see the maximum effectiveness. With the machine at home, Marcy is able to use it every other day as recommended and is seeing improvement.

We bought the machine but went against our own rules and put it on our charge card. With Christmas coming up, we could use some help paying the almost $3,000 cost.

We appreciate all the financial help from our last request for funds for hemodialysis. We have used some of the hemodialysis money for tests to try to get it approved, some for day to day living and are trying to hold the rest for if and when it actually happens.

The kids are doing great - both had good progress reports week before last. Matt is working about 30 hours a week at Office Depot, saving for college. We have a few college introductory trips scheduled the next 4 to 6 weeks. Marcy is planning on going with us to these visits - MTSU (30 minutes away,) UT Chattanooga (2 hours East,) and UT Martin (2 hours West.)
Darcy is playing soccer again this season and on the yearbook staff at her middle school and taking lots of pictures. She is also part of the Model UN program and is preparing a resolution to help China. She does baby sitting when called and is saving for a tablet PC. If you know someone who needs a baby sitter or pet sitter, please send them to her web page at EveryDayIsPrecious.com/Darcy.

Marcy still loves to watch the Food Network. The most recent interesting looking dish is Enchilada Pie from Paula Dean. Friends and neighbors are still bringing dinner for us, but as I write this, there's lots of room in October. Please see the calendar if you can bring or send dinner.

Marcy asked me to make another plea for prayer requests. We have a few friends who will call us and ask us to pray, but Marcy has lots more room on her prayer list.

We continue to believe God is going to totally restore Marcy. We continually thank God for your prayer and care.

Love.
