11/6/02 Constant and Fervent Prayer

Thank you again for all of your prayers. They are what keep us going through Marcy's continued physical decline. In fact, we are asking you to join us in a prayer chain for Marcy. More about that in a minute.

The Mulligans for Marcy golf tournament was a great success. Thanks to the hard work of many of our friends, a gargantuan and cheerful coordination job by Barbara Nowak, and the generous donations of friends and family, Clearview Baptist Church grossed over $11,000 for the tournament.

They are holding the net proceeds for us. As we incur medical expenses and submit them to the church office, the expenses are paid.

When the tournament first was being planned, we thought we would use the funds for further shark live cell treatments (see the second paragraph of our 8/15 email) But there were no positive results in Marcy from this treatment.

Now our thinking is to hold out for a treatment that is in its third clinical trial in Australia. So far, this prescription drug has shown improvement in the majority of patients using it during the trial - some have shown a full reversal. The drug may be available in the US in January or February 2003. There is a little more info on the web, but they are keeping quiet so they don't disturb the trial. The drug is being developed by a Christian not for profit organization.

We have an even stronger faith that God is going to heal Marcy - this drug may be one of His tools.

In the meantime, we are now going to more healing services than we are going to doctors. A few weeks ago, a minister visiting Abounding Grace from Mozambique, Africa came to our house to pray for Marcy. Father Surpriso is the 18th child of an African witch doctor who was led to Christ in his teens. Now he is the number 2 person in a 40 nation ministry that has lost count of the blind and the deaf that have been healed by Jesus in their services. They now only keep count of the people brought back from the dead. We had a wonderful, inspirational prayer meeting in our living room.

Starting November 1, I (Rob) have taken a leave of absence from work for 6 months. Karen and Dean have gone back to Southern Illinois to pick up life where they left it. They were a tremendous help for about a year and a half and I thank God for them every day. I also thank Chris for taking time to help pack 3 tons of stuff in the 2 ton truck that helped get them back on their way.

Our neighbors still bring dinner every weeknight. This is a fantastic blessing: getting to know them a little better as they drop off food, having a surprise dinner every night, and no cooking!

Another huge blessing is our visitation with church friends at our house. Once or twice a week someone comes to visit Marcy. They stay until Matt gets home from school. This frees me up to go to the store or run other errands necessary to keep the house going.

Finally, many people have asked us how they can help. When they do, I tell them about the love we've been shown and the great support group we have. Most then say, "we'll pray for you." We thought it would be great if Marcy could have constant and fervent prayer by asking our friends to pray for Marcy at different times, so that there is prayer around the clock every day. If you think this is something you could be part of, please go to Marcy's Prayer Chain and pick a time that works for you.

Thank you again for all your support and for your love.

Rob
