8/15/02 How to Help Make a Miracle

We're still fighting ALS. The Massachusetts doctor helped Marcy - both times we saw him - but the benefits seem to last only a week or so. After that, she continues her physical decline, so we continue our search.

A recent treatment since the last site update is live cell therapy. If interested, you can read more about it at www.extendlife.com/ (click on the "Live Cell Therapy" button.) We went to Tijuana Mexico for the first treatment in late June. I have been giving Marcy the follow up injections every other week.

The most recent treatment is a master violet ray - also known as a Tesla coil. This device, recommended by our Massachusetts doctor, sends an electronic charge through a glass bulb filled with a gas and emits a violet light. As the glass comes close to touching the skin, small sparks jump from the bulb to the skin. The electrical charge brings the blood closer to the skin, ozonates the blood and improves circulation. The unit was sold in the early 1900's as a "cure all" and was taken off the market by the FDA for fraudulent advertising. It is now sold mostly as a novelty item.

Marcy is at the point now where she can barely move her arms. After only one week of using the master violet ray, we are noticing a little more movement in her arms. We think the combination of the violet ray and the live cells are starting to help.

People have been asking us how they can help. Well, we've thought of something.

Almost all of Marcy's treatments are outside of traditional medicine, so they are not covered by insurance.

To help make sure we don't run totally out of funds and have no money to continue treatments, our friends from Happy Tales and from Clearview Baptist Church are working on putting together a golf tournament as a fundraiser for Marcy.

We'll be posting more to the website, but for now you can read and download a PDF of the rough draft of the flyer to get all the details of the event.

What we really need right now are sponsors for the tournament, so we can print the brochures and get people to sign up to play. If you know someone in a position to influence their company to trade a little money for some exposure in Williamson County, Tennessee, download the Sponsor Level form, print it out and talk to them. If you secure a sponsor, mail the completed form and the check to the address on the form.

The church is accepting the donations, so they are tax deductible. All proceeds will go towards medical treatments for Marcy not covered by health insurance.

We believe the cost of Marcy's medical treatments and this tournament to help overcome that is just another chance for us to spread God's word. I receive a daily Bible uplink that has helped me through many, many days. The uplink from August 14 summed up how this cost we're paying is an investment in our eternal life.

If you don't know anyone who can sponsor, consider printing a rough draft of the flyer and register to play - it should be a fun day.

We are truly blessed to have friends willing to help us in every way possible.

A couple of other blessings we've seen since the last web update include:

  • Marcy's parents continue to give up their lives for us. Marcy's mother, Karen, comes to the house almost every day to care for Marcy while I'm at work. In early June, Marcy's parents moved into our old house - just a mile and a half from our current house - so they are geographically close but can maintain a little privacy for themselves.
  • In May, while Marcy's father had surgery and recovered for 2 weeks, friends from church came to the house to care for Marcy while I worked. We got to learn a lot more about people and they certainly got to know more about us! We have grown much closer to friends at church and have started learning that no one is an island - we are each made to need each other.
  • The first of May our across the street neighbor surprised us with dinner. She then went door to door in the neighborhood and convinced people - some of whom we had never met - to make dinner for us. Since the first of May, a neighbor has brought dinner for all six of us (Marcy, the kids, Marcy's folks, and me) every other night! This has been such an unbelievably huge burden lifted. The reduction in shopping and cooking has been a great time saver, but it has also taken away the mental strain of having to decide what's for dinner and turned it into a surprise guessing game. This act of kindness has taken a drudgerous task and turned it into a regularly fun event! And, of course, we've been able to get to know our neighbors better, again learning how it's OK - even necessary - to need others.

Our continued prayer request is that we listen for God's word in all of this. That we learn what we need to learn so that Marcy may claim the healing that He has promised.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Rob
