4/23/01 Altars

Subject: Marcy's Wellness

Sorry we haven't written an update since October.

In Genesis, the Bible tells us how Abram followed God's command and as God made promises to Abram, Abram built altars to Him. (For the actual text, see/click on Genesis 12:6-9.)

When I first read this passage, it struck me that these little emails (and EveryDayIsPrecious.com) are like our little altars to God. As Marcy and I follow God's word and we hold on to what we believe to be God's promise for healing, we should build altars along the way.

The truth is, for months the disease has made some gains on Marcy's body and we've been seeing more with our eyes and less with our hearts. We've been looking more at the disease, and less at the blessings God is giving us.

It is more difficult for Marcy to walk long distances, so we have a wheelchair (we call it a buggy) and a cane now to help. She uses the cane infrequently and has only used the buggy on big outings like to Opry Mills where people looked at her with envy rather than pity. It is such a big place, nobody likes to walk it!

Some days Marcy has had difficulty driving. It is difficult to get her right foot from the accelerator to the brake fast enough, so we have installed hand controls in her van to give her more freedom to drive when she wants.

Marcy has been able to force herself to relax more, although it is still a struggle. We bought a Lazy Boy rocker recliner with a heated massage unit that she uses when the kids and cats don't fill it up.

But the last couple of weeks, we've experienced a sort of revival and started seeing again with our heart. Marcy's twitching has subsided again and she's beginning to gain back some strength in her legs.

I started working on this email a couple of weeks before the revival mainly to keep you up to date, but it has also reminded us of all our blessings over the last several months.

It's been so long since we've written, you've probably heard some of the things in our lives, so I apologize for telling something you may already know.

Maybe the biggest blessing in these six months is all the relationship building that has happened. We have made many new friends and strengthened our relationships with family members and old friends.

Marcy's 3 sisters came to visit in late October and again just after her birthday the third week of March. Marcy loves these visits. They give her so much to do and enjoy.

We started visiting other churches the end of last year and found one that we now consider our church home, Abounding Grace Church in Franklin. It is non denominational, but is closest to the Pentecostal church. It is a very spirit filled place with an immediately recognizable spirit filled people. They preach what we have been reading and believing about God's healing power.

In October, Williamson Homes & Lifestyles magazine called then came out to do a story and pictures of Marcy and Noodles. At the time, we didn't know the store would be on the cover of the December January issue! We've had many people tell us they saw this and that it was encouraging for them.

We were able to go on a Caribbean cruise February 18-25. We made many new friends and were able to relax quite a bit. Our parents watched the kids at our house as a tag team. My folks watched them the first half of the week and Marcy's the second half. We got to visit with them a little before and after the trip.

My friends at work gave us in-home dietary consultation by a professional vegan chef, Gabrielle, to help us find a way to better enjoy the food we feel led to consume. Between that and the Halleluiah Acres diet Marcy is on, we are eating even better than we were before - and it finally tastes good. Gabrielle even gave us a recipe for a vegan lasagna that guests have enjoyed. Over the last few weeks Marcy has become a vegetarian. She juices and drinks 50 pounds (yes, we've measured it) of carrots a week. We don't know a way to eat healthier.

We haven't missed a night with the wet cell device. In the last couple of weeks I've been more prayerful, less selfish during Marcy's treatment. I plan to continue, even intensify this because I believe it to be a major contributor to Marcy's recent improvement.

We even took the wet cell on the cruise with us and did treatments in the afternoons before dinner. We continue to believe that God told us about this and that it helps us realize Marcy's physical healing. My Mom and Dad gave us a massage table a week before the cruise that makes the process more comfortable. So much more comfortable that Marcy wanted to bring the table on the cruise ship with us. I assured her the room we bought wouldn't be big enough to accommodate the table and we would have to do massages in the hall if we brought it!

March 30 brought the newest arrival to our family: 2 1/2 pounds of fluff that we've named Cricket.

He's a Teacup Maltese puppy we got from a breeder here in Franklin that we found on the Internet. His parents are about 3 1/2 pounds each, so he will fit Marcy's size requirements. For months she has wanted a lap dog to carry with her everywhere - at least when she can get him away from Darcy.

Cricket is very playful. Noodles has already given him notice to leave her alone, we've been able to keep Pongo away from him and his food so far, the cats are slightly curious but try not to act curious at all, and Scooter has reduced her screaming fits whenever Cricket is close. The main thing is that Cricket has given Marcy companionship 24/7.

Adding the photos to this email made me think to add some other photos. If you are interested, click on the Photo Albumn link in the navigation bar at the top of this page.

We have had a few people send us stories to share. We would love to have more. Check out what's been added in the Shared Stories section of the site.

Best of all, our relationship with God continues to grow. We have added these new books that we have enjoyed: The Ultimate Way to Health, The Jesus I Never Knew, Experiencing God, Spontaneous Healing, The Ministry of Healing, Miracles, and The Joyful Christian.

We continue to thank you for your thoughts and prayers as we continue to pray for you.

Thanks.
